Some of the places explored on this set of forays were Logan Canyon, Mirror Lake, Brighton, and Murdock Basin. August is a famously good time for mushrooming in Utah, with most of the popular edible species making their appearance.

This year was particularly good for the King Bolete (Boletus edulis), and there were sightings of chanterelles (Cantharellus roseocanus), puffballs of many kinds, Sarcadon imbricatus, honey mushrooms (Armillaria solidipes), Suillus brevipes, and various scaber stalks (species in the Leccinum genus).
