About the event
This foray will be scientific research focused, we will use the iNaturalist app to document our fungal findings and their environmental and ecological associations for use in academic research.
Attendees should bring a phone with the iNaturalist app installed, and make sure they've created an account first so they can use it to log finds without cell service.
Also you're encouraged to bring a tackle box for small mushrooms, basket or tupperware for larger mushrooms, and a camera and tripod.
A charged USB cell phone battery is also recommended, as is the free Strava app, which you can use to find you way back if you get separated from the group. Both apps work on both iPhone and Android.
Here is the information for the Inaturalist project created for the festival for people to join: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/utah-fungi-festival-foray-mycoblitz-2022
Sometimes you have to pay for parking though Tyler Hacking has an official collection permit and will request of the forest service rangers to allow us to park for free, I suggest that people mention that we are there for the festival and for research using the permit to avoid the parking fee if needed.
